Ministry

I am not boasting nor am I proud of what I do.  My ministry makes me happy and I am sure it makes God happy.  I am not doing any of this for merit or trying to get into heaven.  We are saved by grace by faith.

I design and host websites for ministries.  Here are some examples:

I also carry the cross in Central Oregon.  Below are some areas I have gone.

March 6, 2010

Prineville, OR Highway Entrance

It was a pretty day.  I stood at this intersection for a few hours just waving to cars.  I would save that 70% of the people waved back.  Most of the trucks honked their horns as if the cross made them smile.

Before I got to Prineville, I stopped into Starbucks for a morning coffee.  The gal at the counter wanted to know what I was doing today.  I told her I was carrying a cross in Prineville.  She looked at me as if I was odd.  She then said she hoped that no one would hurt me or protest against me.  This is the 4th time I have carried the cross.  Most people do not care nor do they become violent.  It's as if the public watches too many movies.  The cross makes most smile.  That's all.

About My Ministry

I started a website called www.whoneedsprayer.com in hopes that I could evangelize to people while I was sitting in front of my computer because my job requires a lot of my time online.  I started email marketing the site and got a lot of response, but in the end, I don't think the Lord appreciated unsolicited emails of prayer out to the masses, so he took the emailing away from me.  I was glad too, because email marketing was not easy.

Every now and then, I get someone who goes to the site and asks for prayer.  It's a cool thing.

Now, I try and walk up to people when I am out and about.  I find it more fulfilling to witness to people out on the streets.  I use the Way of the Master technique.  You would be surprised as to how many people do not know who Jesus Christ is.

Beginnings of a Cross Carrier

It started during prayer.  I was heavily involved and knew Jesus was near me.  I wanted to prove to Jesus that I believed in Him so I asked what I could do to prove that I loved him.  Some, at this point, think what I did or am doing is beyond what I need to, but they don't know how I feel.

After a few short seconds, it came to me in my heart to ask if I carried a cross for 40 days in my home town, would that make Him happy?  I heard a yes inside my head.  Sure, it could have been me saying it to myself, but this time, I felt different.  I felt alive and joyous.  I knew that Jesus truly did answer me.

The next morning, I awoke and was eager to tell my wife.  Once approached in the early morning before coffee and getting the kid awake, she looked at me as a nut job. I admit it was the wrong time to tell her, but I did anyways.  It sparked a tiny family feud for a bit, but settled down.  I spoke to my dad about it and to make a long story short, he said that that was my proof that I was doing something right because Satan attacked my family trying to steal that glory away from God.

A Fellow Cross Carrier & Friend

This is Jim Whalen below.  He is one of the most influential man of God I have ever met.  Jim is my friend and brother in Christ.  He started Carriers of the Cross Gospel Ministries & Evangelistic Association, Inc. located in California.  I am his webmaster, spiritual son and a board member.  He took me out one day here in Central Oregon and here are some pictures.

I was asked by Jim to be on the board of directors for his ministry in California.  I accepted and also helped build a website about his ministry.  His website is http://www.crosscarry.com/

Jim has led thousands of people to the alter and watching him do the Lord's work is so awesome.  It's hard to put into words of what happens after you say he sinners prayer with someone.  You feel like your purpose or the meaning to who you are is being fulfilled.

Perhaps talking to people about Jesus is not for everyone.  But for me, it's what my heart desires.  It's not boastful.  I am giving God the glory.  God was the one who told me to carry the cross.  He also was the one who told me to tell people about the gift that Jesus gave us.

This was my second cross walk.  The first one, I walked the cross around my home town for an hour.  I didn't lead anyone in the sinners prayer, but I did get a lot of questions about God and what I was doing.  At least this walk was with an expert, Jim.  He made it all look so easy.

I admit that I was nervous and felt awkward.  I had this reoccurring thought in my head that I was wasting my time and that people thought I was crazy.  I also felt hated at times.  It's obvious that those thoughts were not coming from me.

Jim has carried his cross in Africa and South America.  In the US, he has carried it to places like Columbine, after the massacre, and to New York, after 911 to even Katrina.  Those are just a few places out of hundreds he has travelled and spread the gospel.  They call him the weeping preacher because the Holy Spirit fills him so.  He's a kind man and I love him dearly.

We were only there for a few minutes when Jim started leading people to the Lord.  Jim did not have to do anything but stand there and waive with his cross.  Nor did I.  People just walked up and starting asking questions.  Obviously, God sets the divine appointments.

After this cross carry, a few months later, I received a call from Jim about a town called Happy Camp, CA.

May 6 - 10, 2009

Happy Camp, CA

I took many pictures, but unfortunately, I accidently deleted them.  This town is close to an Indian Reservation owned by the Kuruk's.

I spent less than a week there and led 1 person to the Lord.  His name was Robby.  He was pretty messed up.  Robby was living in an RV car with at least 3 cats.  There was no running water and the cat litter smell was horrific.  Robby was banned from the local grocery store and could only buy what was at the liquor store, which was only boxed dinners rather than fruit and veggies.

The next day after Robby and I accepted the Holy Spirit in our hearts, we were talking to a local policeman when the subject of Robby came up.  I wanted to know if the officer knew him.  He said he responded to a call the night before where Robby was harassing his neighbors in the RV park.  When asked what was the problem, the officer said his neighbors called the police because Robby was speaking in different languages and scaring them!

I think, but can't be for certain, that Robby was led by the Holy Spirit and started to speak in tongues.  Wow.

Jim and I did a lot of great work there.  I felt bless by God to have been able to walk my cross throughout that town and to meet the nice people there.  I miss Happy Camp dearly and hope to return there soon.
